Where can I get a prelim/preliminary schedule/entry information pack?

Preliminary schedules (prelims) or entry information packs are available from:

  • Ann Roberts School of Dance
  • Artie's Music
  • Croft-Gilchrist School of Dance
  • Murrell Academy of Drama
  • Print Music
  • Townsville Academy of Performing Arts
  • Adcocks (Ayr)
  • Avar Photographics (Ingham)

  • via the side menu on the Current Eisteddfod page
It is imperative that you obtain a preliminary schedule every year as rules may change

Can I pay for my entry with EFTPOS or Credit Card?

We do not have the facilities to allow us to accept payment by EFTPOS or Credit Card.

When I put my entry in what will I get in receipt of payment?

Your entry will go through our processing procedure. If a stamped, self-addressed envelope is included your Competitor's Ticket will be posted to you. Otherwise your Competitor's Ticket will be held at the Eisteddfod Office and can be collected at your convenience.

If the closing date has passed will you accept my entry?

LATE ENTRIES WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Programming

Can special arrangements be made for programming this year?

Every effort is made when programming to be as sensitive to the needs of individuals and groups as possible, however we are unable to make special arrangements for programming. Once the program is formalised there can be no changes under any circumstances.

Can I swap from an A section to a B section?

Some sections are divided when there are a large number of competitors entered in the section. If you are placed in an A section you are unable to change and perform in a B section.

Closing Dates

The closing date for literary and visual arts pieces has passed will you accept my work?

Unfortunately we are unable to accept your work if the closing date for literary and visual arts pieces has passed.

The closing date for Own Choice work has passed will you accept my Own Choice material?

Your Own Choice material will be accepted and if you choose to perform, you will still be adjudicated, however you will not receive a mark on your adjudicator's report.

Pre Performance

Where can I get the set poems?

Set poems can be collected from the Eisteddfod Office, St Mary's Hall, Castling Street. You may request a set poem by fax, email, phone or on your entry form.

What is meant by Australian Composer?

Works by an Australian Composer do not include folk songs arranged by an Australian Musician.

Performance

Can I pre book tickets for the Civic Theatre or Choral Society Hall?

You are unable to book tickets for the Civic Theatre or Choral Society Hall. Tickets for the Civic Theatre can be obtained from our ticket sellers in the foyer prior to and during the session that you wish to watch. At the Choral Society Hall entry is through the side door, and you pay as you enter and do not receive a ticket. If you require one, a passout will be available from either hall and will allow entry to that session only at either hall.

What time will my child/group perform?

There is no way to judge when your child or group will perform. Factors that may affect the time include the number of pullouts in the previous sections and the speed of the adjudicator's deliberations.

Where do I go to book in at the Civic Theatre?

The Marshall at the Civic Theatre can be found by following the corridor around to the back Stage Door. The Marshall’s desk is in the back stage area, inside the sound locks.

Where do I go to book in at the Choral Society Hall?

To book in at the Choral Society Hall report to the Marshall when directed by the Chairman.

Can I book a dressing room?

Dressing rooms are available on a first in, first served basis and there are no facilities to book one. However, dressing rooms 1 & 2 are unavailable for use by competitors as they are reserved for the committee and adjudicators.
During the dancing week of the eisteddfod dressing room 5 is reserved for use by male competitors.

Are there specified areas for seating in the auditorium?

When choirs (including speech choirs) are performing the rear of the theatre is reserved for the members of the choirs. Other patrons are requested to sit from H row forward.

Do I have to be there for the whole session?

If your child or group is only performing in one section during the session you only need to stay to watch that section. Some patrons choose to watch only the item in which the group is performing, however it may be well worth your time to watch the entire session if you are able. Patrons are not allowed admittance during an item.

After Performance

How do I get my adjudicator's report at the Civic Theatre?

After completion of the section, adjudicator's reports are available in the foyer of the theatre. The reports can be obtained by asking for them by Competitor's Number.

How do I get my adjudicator's report at the Choral Society Hall?

After completion of the section, adjudicator's reports are available outside the Choral Society Hall. The reports can be obtained by asking for them by Competitor's Number.

I didn't pick up my adjudicator's report after the section, can I still collect it?

At the end of each section at the Civic Theatre and session at the Choral Society Hall, all uncollected reports are returned to the Green Room at the Civic Theatre. These can be collected at any time during the eisteddfod by asking for them by section number and competitor's number.
