EISTEDDFOD VOLUNTEERS
Townsville Eisteddfod Inc. is a non-profit organisation and relies totally on voluntary effort.
An Information Evening is planned for early June to give general information on all aspects of volunteering. Typical Tasks -Chairpersons announce items, changes, rulings and results and conduct prize presentations. (best suited to people used to speaking in public, conducting meetings, etc.) Doorkeepers take tickets at the door, issue pass outs and ensure the comfort and safety of all patrons.Townsville Civic Theatre staff provide a brief training session for doorkeepers about 2 weeks before the Eisteddfod commences. Pencillers act as the adjudicator's assistant, allowing the adjudicator to focus on the performance rather than the paperwork (most adjudicators prefer to dictate their notes). Marshals work backstage, organising competitors before their performances. Timekeepers time each item where time limits apply. Drivers take adjudicators to and from venues, accommodation. Ticket and Programme Sales. General administration tasks (these may start in May and continue to the end of the Eisteddfod). Many of these tasks require the volunteer to hold a Queensland Government "Blue Card" - our Committee can help you obtain one. If you would like to join our team just let us know -
